ESOL English for Work - English for Work: This unit covers key jobs that people do and the different places where people work, introducing vocabulary and phrases related to employment. - When you Work: This unit focuses on when you start work, including talking about working hours, shifts, and schedules. - Working at a Desk: Here, we discuss what it means to work at a desk and explore vocabulary related to office work and equipment. - Money at Work: This unit explains how you can get paid, introduces concepts of pounds and pence, and discusses financial vocabulary related to wages and salaries. - Job Roles: We turn our attention to different job roles within an organisation, including learning about hierarchy and management structures. - Absences: This unit covers the different types of absences at work and how to talk about taking time off or reporting sickness. - Staying Safe at Work: Here, we talk about how to stay safe at work, including identifying a first aider, knowing what’s in a first aid box, and understanding protective clothing and equipment. - Working in a Cafe: This unit focuses on working in a café environment, including customer service interactions and typical café-related vocabulary. - Another Trip to the Office: We revisit the office setting and explore more about what can be found in an office building. - Cleaning the Office: This unit covers cleaning tasks and equipment used to maintain a clean and safe office environment. - Working in a Shop: Here, we explore what it’s like to work in a shop, focusing on sales interactions, customer service, and shop-related language. - Working on a Construction Site: This unit explores working on a construction site, introducing tools, safety procedures, and job-specific vocabulary. - Reading Job Adverts: In this unit, we look at how to read job adverts and understand common words and phrases used in them. - Applying for a Job: We discuss how to apply for a job, including completing applications, attending interviews, and understanding recruitment language. - More on Money: This unit introduces larger amounts of money and discusses financial vocabulary for higher values and workplace transactions. - In a Restaurant: We discuss working in a restaurant setting, including vocabulary related to food service and interacting with customers. - Hotel Receptionist: This unit covers the role of a hotel receptionist, focusing on greetings, customer service, and managing bookings. - Housekeeper: Here, we discuss the role of a housekeeper, including cleaning duties, guest relations, and hospitality vocabulary. - Getting Around: This unit focuses on different methods of travelling to work and associated transport vocabulary. - More Office Vocabulary: We expand on office-related vocabulary and introduce more terms for common items and tasks in the workplace. - Painter / Decorator: This unit discusses the job of a painter and decorator, introducing tools, materials, and techniques used in this trade. - Working in a Shoe Shop: Here, we explore working in a shoe shop, including assisting customers and handling transactions. - In a Supermarket: This unit covers working and shopping in a supermarket, focusing on common phrases and vocabulary related to the retail environment.
